Unification between China and Taiwan will always be the CCP's ultimate political goal. However, the time is not favorable for the CCP. That was a clear way to differentiate between a communist believer or nationalist. Example would be Lenin because he doesn't mind to abandon the land to gain benefits but a Russian nationalist won't do so.
Since the Kuomintang arrived in Taiwan they destroyed the local culture and talent which was developed by the Japanese imperial. After that, they started to impose Chinese culture on the Taiwan indigenous people and claimed themselves as the real Chinese. However, in the real world neither China communist or Kuomintang call themselves as Chinese, but they call themselves as Han ethnic. During the final stage of the Qing dynasty, the Kuomintang were hateful towards Manchu and other minorities. They proclaimed themselves wanting to build a nation consisting only of Han ethnic.
The word Chinese is created for political reasons. For Kuomintang this word means new target to extortion, for Great British this word means new labor. During the Qing dynasty the emperor viewed anyone leaving the country as a traitor for the empire. However after the collapse of the Qing empire, the China Mainland fell into constant political turmoil and warfare between different states. During the rise of Kuomintang, they needed money and firearms so firstly they got their support from Guangdong local people but the resources from Guangdong never enough for Kuomintang ultimate political goal which is total control of all the state of China.
Henceforth, they put their target on those Han people who were leaving from the Qing empire. Kuomintang started its infiltration activity in the Southeast country and began the gang extortion activity. This is not the first time Kuomintang conducted this kind of gang activity. During their time at Guangdong they will send beggars to small and medium businesses then ask for donations, if you never comply the beggar will come everyday and make the business difficult to carry on. For the bigger business group their tactics will be first they make formal visits and use social morality to ask for donations, if the owner refuses they will start to put bombs at the company or the owner premise. Long story short, during the political struggle and military conflict between Kuomintang and CCP, the Kuomintang always emphasized that they are the real China people. The CCP never proclaimed themselves as real China people at the beginning of its creation because they know that once you declare yourself as ethnic Han or Chinese that means you are a “surrender people” meaning you cannot fight like a warrior.
In the contemporary world, if we look at the identity cards of China and Taiwan we don't see them put the word Chinese in the card. Therefore in order to differentiate between SEA Chinese people and people from China, we should call them Han. In the meantime, the Chinese community in the SEA should stop referring to themselves as Chinese and start to have local recognition. The current US-China relation are intense and this created a perfect window opportunity for the Taiwanese to break through from China culture.

There are two options for the Taiwanese to leave the Chinese/Han culture. The first option is by blood meaning that the attack from China will trigger the growth of Taiwan local recognition. Nowadays the percentage of Taiwanese viewing them as Chinese has been continuously dropping.
Second option will be to let nature do its work. When the Kuomintang defeated and withdrew itself from China, they brought a whole population to Taiwan. This group of people we can consider as the first generation of Taiwan-Chinese people meaning they stayed in Taiwan but refused to acknowledge as Taiwanese and wanted to become Chinese. Due to the decline of the birthrate, the first generation of Taiwan-Chinese people are getting less offspring. Then less offspring mean less population and the beginning of demise for Taiwan-Chinese people.
Inside CCP fantasy dreams, they often imagine that once the CCP aircraft carriers cross the Taiwan Straits the Taiwan-Chinese people will uprising and topple the government. The reality will be that not one will answer the call of CCP since the idea of Taiwanese is continuing to grow and the idea of maintaining Chinese is dying away.
